Wrestler Ashton Mutuwa Expresses Gratitude to Nigerians and Wrestling Federation for Support
As the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifiers wrap up until the final qualification window in May, Nigerian wrestlers remain grateful for the overwhelming support they received in recent weeks.
The past two weeks were filled with intense competitions for Nigerian wrestlers, starting with the African Games in Ghana, followed by the African Championships and the Olympic qualifiers in Alexandria, Egypt.
Ashton Mutuwa, competing in the 125kg category and securing Silver medals and Olympic Qualification for Nigeria, expressed his gratitude for the support he and his teammates received.
Mutuwa, who made his debut and pledged allegiance to Nigeria, praised Daniel Igali and the NWF board for allowing him to represent the African Giant. He also acknowledged Igali’s coaching and mentoring contributions to his success.
Mutuwa extended his thanks to his coach Victor Kodei and teammates Harrison, Stephen, Simeon, and Braveman, acknowledging their indispensable support.
He expressed excitement about representing Nigeria in Paris and emphasized that while the journey is ongoing, they have achieved significant progress.
In his closing remarks, Mutuwa appreciated NWF Press Officer Promise Okotoko and both Nigerian and international journalists for their coverage of wrestling, highlighting their role in promoting and growing the sport.
