Nigerian TikTok Star Peller Rescued After Alleged Kidnapping During Livestream.

Lagos, Nigeria – Popular Nigerian TikTok content creator Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Peller, has been safely rescued following a reported kidnapping during a live broadcast on Wednesday night, 27 August 2025. The incident, which sent shockwaves through social media, occurred when unidentified men allegedly brandishing firearms interrupted Peller’s livestream, prompting widespread concern among his fans and followers.

According to reports, the 20-year-old streamer was broadcasting on TikTok when his vehicle was stopped by armed individuals. In a now-viral video clip, Peller could be heard questioning the men, saying, “You dey carry gun, Ogun wan kill you? Calm down jor. Na who you come dey point gun for?” before a heated exchange ensued. The men, whose faces were not visible, reportedly ordered him out of his car, and a scream was heard before the stream abruptly ended. An aide who arrived at the scene shortly after found Peller’s car abandoned with his phone inside, intensifying fears for his safety.

The news sparked a frenzy online, with fans and fellow TikTokers expressing alarm and calling for swift action to locate the content creator. Some speculated that the incident might have been a misunderstanding involving law enforcement conducting a stop-and-search operation, while others feared a targeted abduction. Fellow TikToker Jidex Klothing confirmed the incident, stating that Peller had been stopped by unknown men on his way back from a restaurant, adding that he was live online at the time, which likely amplified the visibility of the event.

In a relieving update on Thursday morning, Peller’s colleague Sandra Benede announced that the streamer had been found and was in the care of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). In a video shared on social media, Benede reassured fans, saying, “They have seen him. DPO has seen him.” The Nigeria Police Force is reported to have played a key role in securing Peller’s release, though official details about the operation remain limited.

The incident has ignited discussions about the safety of content creators in Nigeria, with some social media users criticising Peller’s decision to stream late at night. “Thank God, that guy should be careful. He should not be going around anyhow, and he should be controlling his mouth,” wrote one user on X, while another remarked, “Mumu Peller wey dey stream for midnight alone. How f0lish can a man be?” Others, however, expressed relief and gratitude for his safe return, with one user stating, “I woke to hear the bad news, na once sleep commot from my eyes. But hearing the good news, Kai, I can now sleep.”

While some online commentators questioned whether the incident was staged for content, the consensus among Peller’s supporters is one of relief at his safety. The episode has also highlighted the growing risks associated with livestreaming, particularly in areas with security challenges, echoing global concerns about crimes broadcast on platforms like TikTok and Facebook Live.

Peller, known for his vibrant and often humorous content, has yet to make a public statement following the ordeal. His management team and girlfriend have also remained silent, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further updates. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities public figures face in the digital age, prompting calls for greater caution and security measures among Nigeria’s growing community of online creators.
