Nigerian Rugby League Grand Finale Set For November, As Taekwondo Gains Ground.

The 2024 Nigerian Rugby League is set to conclude with an eagerly anticipated grand finale on Saturday, 16th November, in Abuja. According to an official statement from the league body released on Wednesday, the showdown will see the Lagos Bulls take on the Kano Lions in what promises to be a thrilling contest between the top teams from the Southern and Northern Conferences.

The Kano Lions earned their place in the final by dominating the Northern Conference, overcoming rivals such as the Zazzau Bulls, Zaria Bees, and Kano Gazelles. The Lagos Bulls, on the other hand, topped the South-West Conference, outclassing teams including Eko Trinity, R2 Finesse, Lagos Rhinos, Lagos Haven, and De Kings.

Fans of Nigerian rugby are keenly awaiting the clash, as both teams are known for their strong performances throughout the season. The grand finale will be a fitting end to what has been an exciting year for rugby in Nigeria.

In other sporting news, taekwondo in Nigeria continues to flourish with the support of the Korean Ambassador, His Excellency Kim Pankyu. Following the successful conclusion of the 12th Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Tournament in Abuja, Ambassador Pankyu reaffirmed his commitment to the sport’s development in Nigeria.

The event saw over 200 competitors showcase their skills, highlighting the growing popularity of taekwondo in the country. During his address at the tournament, Ambassador Pankyu emphasised the sport’s value, stating, “Taekwondo is not just a traditional Korean martial art loved worldwide; it also enhances physical strength while cultivating mental discipline.”

Ambassador Pankyu expressed his ongoing dedication to promoting the sport in Nigeria, noting, “The Ambassador’s Championship is a key initiative to bolster taekwondo in Nigeria and equip our athletes for international competition.”

With continued support from the Korean embassy, Nigerian taekwondo athletes are set to make strides on the global stage, alongside the growth of rugby and other sports across the nation.
