Nigerian gospel actor and producer, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, has died.
Fellow actor Oluwaseun Adejumobi confirmed Are’s passing on Instagram, praising his “purposeful and inspiring life.”
Although the exact date and cause of death remain undisclosed, reports suggest Are battled a prolonged liver disease.
Baba Gbenro spent over two decades in the gospel film industry, producing, directing, and featuring in numerous films, including the Mount Zion Youtube series ‘Abattoir.”
He founded Calvary Drama Ministry in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, in 1995, using drama evangelism to preach the gospel.
Are also served as CEO of Calvary Movies Television, an online streaming service focused on Christian drama and evangelism.
Born June 11, 1959, in Kano, Baba Gbenro is survived by his wife Bamike Rebecca Are and children.
