The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has recognized one of its staff members, Mr. Auwal Dankode, for his honesty and integrity after he returned $10,000 he found while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.

According to a statement released on Saturday, Dankode, who hails from Kano, was honored at the company’s headquarters at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The reward was in appreciation of his transparency, honesty, and adherence to the company’s values.

Dankode, along with his colleagues, was assigned to clean the MS 878 passenger aircraft operated by Egypt Air at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) last Wednesday. During the cleaning, he discovered the sum of $10,000 left behind by a passenger in seat 25H. Dankode immediately reported the find to the airline’s Station Manager.

Commending Dankode’s actions, NAHCO’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, praised him for exemplifying the company’s values through his actions. Gupta announced that Dankode would receive a significant cash reward, an instant promotion, and an appointment as NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

“We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for: honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work,” Gupta stated.

He further encouraged Dankode to continue demonstrating these values throughout his career. “We want this to be just the beginning. Let the values instilled by your family guide you as you grow into an ideal leader,” Gupta added.

Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, Chief Financial Officer of NAHCO, also commended Dankode for his display of high integrity. “The integrity you’ve shown is not something that can be faked. It’s clear it comes from within you,” Emiloju remarked.

Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Didier Steullet, also praised Dankode’s actions, stating, “What you have done is exceptional. You’re not just an example for the week but possibly for the year. Stay grounded, and don’t be swayed by the attention you are receiving on social media. Stay true to yourself, and your life will be good.”

Dr. Sola Obabori, Group Executive Director, highlighted the global recognition Dankode’s actions have garnered, saying, “You’ve become a poster boy for NAHCO, not just in Nigeria but worldwide. In today’s economy, where the value of the dollar is high, returning such a sum is a remarkable act of honesty.”

As a newly appointed brand ambassador, Dankode will represent NAHCO at major events across Nigeria, promote its brand, and have opportunities to engage with top officials and stakeholders of the company.
