Troops of the Nigerian Army, on special security patrols during the Eid al-Kabir celebrations in Giwa Local Government Area, have successfully neutralized a terrorist identified as Daushe, an associate of the infamous bandit commander Buharin Yadi.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this achievement in a statement posted on X.com on Sunday. The statement detailed the proactive measures taken by the troops to ensure a secure environment for all residents during the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
“In a proactive move to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens during the ongoing Eid-El-Kabir celebration in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops deployed for special patrols to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all residents have eliminated a terrorist identified as a cohort of a notorious terrorist commander known as Buharin Yadi, who was eliminated by troops in a recent encounter,” the statement read.
The incident occurred in Kidandan, a village in Giwa LGA, where troops on a fighting patrol noticed the suspect, Daushe, attempting to flee on a motorbike.
The vigilant soldiers swiftly pursued him, leading to him abandoning the bike and trying to escape into a nearby settlement. The troops continued their pursuit and eventually neutralized him as he tried to flee into the bush on the outskirts of the community.
During the operation, the troops recovered the abandoned motorbike, two bags containing corn flour, and a mobile phone. Intelligence sources later confirmed Daushe’s identity as a collaborator of Buharin Yadi, who had been recently eliminated by the troops in the same region.
This successful operation follows a report by PUNCH on Friday, where troops of Operation Whirl Punch killed 36 bandits, including Buhari Alhaji Halidu, also known as “Buharin Yadi,” a notorious bandit leader who had been terrorizing the North for years. The elimination of these bandits has reportedly led to jubilant celebrations among the residents of the Kaduna-Katsina border communities.
