Nigerian Army Troops Neutralize Notorious Bandit Kingpins In Zamfara Operation.
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade have achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Zamfara State. In a decisive offensive, the troops neutralized several insurgents, including five high-profile bandit kingpins, and recovered a massive arsenal of arms and ammunition.
The operation, which was conducted on May 1, 2025, in Mai Kwanugga village, Talata Mafara Local Government Area, resulted in the neutralization of the bandit kingpins, who were identified as Auta Jijji, Dankali, Sagidi, Kachallah Rijaji, and Kachallah Suza. The troops also recovered a formidable cache of arms, including AK-47 rifles, a PKT General Purpose Machine Gun, Rocket-Propelled Grenade Launchers, and several rounds of ammunition.
The success of the operation was attributed to the proactive cooperation of local residents, who provided timely and credible intelligence that enabled the swift military response. The Commander of 1 Brigade, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, commended the troops for their courage and operational dexterity and lauded the patriotic conduct of the local populace.
The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ridding Zamfara State of all criminal elements. The military has urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue providing reliable information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
