Nigeria Police Extend Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement To October 2025.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, pushing the deadline to 2 October 2025. The decision, approved by Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, responds to a surge in applications through the official portal, possap.gov.ng, indicating growing public compliance with the directive.
The extension aims to allow thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible individuals, aligning with national security priorities. Deputy Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, emphasised that the additional time will facilitate the refinement of both digital and physical verification processes to uphold the integrity of the permit system and prevent misuse. The NPF reiterated that possap.gov.ng remains the sole authorised platform for applications, urging citizens to avoid unofficial channels.
To address concerns about misconduct, the public is encouraged to report any instances of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorised processing via the dedicated hotline, 08147818871. The NPF expressed appreciation for the cooperation of Nigerians and reaffirmed its commitment to balancing public convenience with robust security measures.
This latest extension follows previous delays in enforcement, reflecting the police’s efforts to accommodate public response while maintaining stringent oversight. The tinted glass policy, designed to enhance security by regulating vehicle window tints, has sparked discussions online about its implementation and impact on motorists. The NPF’s focus on transparency and accountability underscores its intent to ensure a fair and secure process for all.
