Excitement is brewing as the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 gears up for its seventh season, with phase one set to commence in Benin City, Edo State on Monday.
Twenty-two clubs, including twelve male teams and ten female teams, sponsored by Ardova PLC, will converge in the historic city, igniting the indoor sports hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium and the Etete sports hall with electrifying handball action.
In the male category, defending champions Niger United, revitalized under Coach Yekini Adebayo’s leadership, will defend their title against Benue Buffaloes. Tojemarine Academy, guided by Coach Shittu Adewunmi Agboola, aims to secure the championship after finishing second last season, facing newcomers Adamawa United in their opening match. Other intriguing matchups include three-time champions Kano Pillars against Correction Boys, and Safety Shooters against Sunshine Kings, marking a dynamic start to the season.
On the female front, Safety Babes, unbeaten champions from the previous season, will strive to maintain their winning streak against newly promoted COAS Babes. Defender Babes clashes with Imo Grasshoppers in a battle of experience and determination, while newly promoted Rivers Queens face a tough test against Rima Queens in their debut Ardova Handball Premier League appearance.
