Nigeria Distributes N1.681 Trillion To Federal, State, And Local Governments In April 2025.

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has allocated N1.681 trillion to Nigeria’s three tiers of government for April 2025. The funds, drawn from a gross total of N2.848 trillion, were shared among the federal, state, and local governments, with additional allocations for oil-producing states.

According to the FAAC communique issued on Friday, the Federal Government received N565.307 billion, state governments were allocated N556.741 billion, and local government councils got N406.627 billion. Oil-producing states received N152.553 billion as a 13% derivation of mineral revenue. The allocation includes revenue from Gross Statutory Revenue, Value Added Tax (VAT), Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and Exchange Difference.

The communique revealed that N101.051 billion was deducted for the cost of collection, while N1.066 trillion was allocated for transfers, interventions, and refunds. The Gross Statutory Revenue for April stood at N2.084 trillion, an increase of N365.595 billion compared to N1.718 trillion in March. From this, N73.741 billion was allocated for collection costs, and N1.047 trillion for transfers, interventions, and refunds. The remaining N962.882 billion was distributed as follows: N431.307 billion to the Federal Government, N218.765 billion to states, N168.659 billion to local councils, and N144.151 billion to oil-producing states.

VAT revenue for April reached N642.265 billion, up by N4.647 billion from N637.618 billion in March. After deducting N25.691 billion for collection costs and N18.497 billion for transfers, interventions, and refunds, N598.077 billion was shared. The Federal Government received N89.712 billion, states got N299.039 billion, and local councils received N209.327 billion.

The EMTL generated N40.481 billion, with N38.862 billion distributed as follows: N5.829 billion to the Federal Government, N19.431 billion to states, and N13.602 billion to local councils. The remaining N1.619 billion covered collection costs. Additionally, N81.407 billion from Exchange Difference was shared, with N38.459 billion going to the Federal Government, N19.507 billion to states, N15.039 billion to local councils, and N8.402 billion to oil-producing states.

The communique noted significant increases in Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalty, VAT, EMTL, Excise Duty, Import Duty, and CET Levies, though Company Income Tax (CIT) recorded a decline. The total distributable revenue of N1.681 trillion for April 2025 comprised N962.882 billion from Statutory Revenue, N598.077 billion from VAT, N38.862 billion from EMTL, and N81.407 billion from Exchange Difference.

This substantial allocation underscores the government’s commitment to equitable resource distribution, supporting development across Nigeria’s federal structure.
