The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).
The agreement, led by Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, underscores the commitment of both nations to foster bilateral ties and facilitate import-export operations.
During a signing ceremony held in Shenzhen, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the importance of strengthening affiliations with China, highlighting the potential benefits for businesses, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. Adeniyi praised the exponential growth of e-commerce, acknowledging its role in facilitating opportunities for Nigerian companies and SMEs.
The MoU aims to establish a cooperative mechanism between NCS and GACC, focusing on supply chain security standards and economic stability enhancement. CGC Adeniyi reiterated the significance of the relationship, emphasizing that China’s extensive trade with Nigeria underscores the interconnectedness of international trade dynamics.
Mr. Wang Lingjun, representing Vice Minister Sun Yuning of the General Administration of Customs, expressed satisfaction with Adeniyi’s vision, foreseeing the collaboration as a catalyst for creating mutual economic opportunities and trade facilitation between Nigeria and China.
