Marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has praised the country’s resilience and entrepreneurial spirit despite ongoing global challenges.
In a post on X.com on Tuesday, Okonjo-Iweala acknowledged the difficulties facing Nigeria but urged Nigerians to appreciate the uniqueness of their country. She wrote, “Though times are tough internationally and nationally, we should appreciate that we are from one of the most interesting countries in the world with some of the most exciting and entrepreneurial people in the world! I certainly appreciate and thank God for this!”
Meanwhile, in his Independence Day address, President Bola Tinubu reassured citizens that the economy was undergoing vital reforms aimed at better serving the people.
He emphasized that his administration is taking steps to ease the cost of living and ensure sustainable development.
