The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has decided to pull out the Super Eagles out of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya following a distressing ordeal at Al-Abraq Airport.
The team has been left stranded for over 13 hours after arriving in Libya and faced delays and obstructions, reportedly as part of an effort to frustrate the Nigerian side ahead of the fixture. This incident marks a significant challenge for the Super Eagles, who were preparing for the crucial match in Benghazi.
The team was diverted from Benghazi Airport to the small Al Abraq International Airport, typically used for hajj operations. The Libyan Football Federation failed to provide a reception or transportation for the team, leaving fatigued players without any means to reach their hotel. The NFF is preparing a return flight to Nigeria for the team to ensure their safety.
