NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, Highlights Lack Of Grade ‘A’ Stadiums In Nigeria.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau has voiced concerns regarding the substandard condition of football stadiums across the country, revealing that only the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo currently meets the requirements to host grade ‘A’ matches, including Super Eagles fixtures.
During a recent inspection visit to Ape Aku Stadium in Makurdi, Gusau commended Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for ongoing renovations aimed at upgrading the facility. He expressed hope that, once completed, the stadium could serve as an alternative venue for high-profile matches.
Gusau further stressed the importance of developing grassroots football across Nigeria. He called for the revival of U-15 and U-17 Governor’s Cup competitions as a means to unearth and nurture local talent, helping to strengthen the future of Nigerian football.
The NFF president’s comments have sparked a discussion about the need for sustained investment in football infrastructure to improve the country’s sporting reputation on the international stage.
