Finidi George Unveiled as Super Eagles Coach by NFF
In a significant development for Nigerian football, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced Finidi George as the new coach of the Super Eagles, marking a fresh chapter under President Ibrahim Gusau’s leadership.
Finidi George, renowned for his illustrious career as a former Real Betis winger, steps into the coaching role permanently following the departure of Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro. His journey with the Super Eagles began as an assistant to Peseiro during the recent African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where the team achieved a commendable second-place finish.
The decision to appoint Finidi George was made public a few weeks ago, subsequent to his interim stewardship during the team’s international friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
The official unveiling ceremony took place at the NFF headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning, signaling the start of a new era under Finidi’s leadership. His inaugural task at the helm will be guiding the Super Eagles through the 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
The appointment of Finidi George reflects the NFF’s commitment to harnessing local talent and expertise, aligning with their vision for sustained success on the international stage. Nigerian football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the strategic direction and impact that Finidi will bring to the Super Eagles as they embark on their upcoming challenges.
