NFF Shocked and Saddened by Domo Okara’s Death.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expressed profound sorrow over the sudden death of Domo Okara, Head Coach of Bayelsa Queens Football Club, on Saturday.
“We are shocked and saddened beyond words. This is a very sorrowful development,” stated NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, on Sunday. “Okara was one of the pillars of women’s football coaching in the country. He was a mentor, a leader, and an inspiration to many. We pray that God will give him eternal rest and grant his family, friends, and the Nigeria football community the fortitude to bear this loss.”
Domo Okara led Bayelsa Queens to win the Nigeria Women Premier League title in 2022 and the Federation Cup the following year. He also guided the team to bronze medals at the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, marking the only Nigerian team to achieve such a feat. Okara’s unexpected death has left a significant void in Nigerian women’s football.
