Newcastle Manager Eddie Howe Admitted To Hospital, To Miss Manchester United Clash.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been admitted to hospital and will miss Sunday’s crucial Premier League encounter against Manchester United, the club confirmed on Saturday.
Howe, 47, who has reportedly been feeling unwell for several days, was taken to hospital late on Friday evening. In a statement released by the club, Newcastle revealed that their head coach is “conscious and talking with his family” as he undergoes further medical tests.
“The Magpies’ head coach was admitted to hospital late on Friday evening having felt unwell for a number of days,” the statement read. “Medical staff kept Eddie in hospital overnight for further tests, which are ongoing. He is conscious and talking with his family, and is continuing to receive expert medical care.”
The club also extended their support to the manager during his recovery. “Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery.”
In Howe’s absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall and first-team coach Graeme Jones will lead the team on the touchline for Sunday’s high-stakes clash at Old Trafford.
Newcastle, currently seventh in the Premier League table, remain in contention for a Champions League spot. With two games in hand, victories in both would propel them to third place. A top-five finish this season would be enough to secure a place in next year’s Champions League, thanks to the impressive performance of English clubs in European competitions, which has earned the Premier League an additional qualifying spot.
The football community continues to rally around Howe as he receives treatment, hoping for his swift return to the dugout.
