The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has pledged to facilitate a smoother operational environment for telecom service providers across the country.
During a recent breakfast meeting with members of the Abuja chapter of the Nigerian Telecommunication Reporters Association (NITRA) and business editors, Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, emphasized the commission’s commitment to improving services for consumers while ensuring strict enforcement of regulations.
Dr. Maida highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making to enhance industry standards and consumer experiences.
He stressed the necessity of holding telecom service providers accountable to meet the expectations of consumers, emphasizing that quality of service remains paramount. Additionally, he emphasized the commission’s focus on collaboration with stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial outcomes.
Addressing concerns over industry disputes, Dr. Maida disclosed that the commission had successfully mediated between major players, resolving existing conflicts.
He assured stakeholders that measures would be implemented to prevent similar disputes in the future, underscoring the importance of collaboration over enforcement.
Furthermore, the NCC reiterated its commitment to advocacy and support for licensees, aiming to streamline processes and alleviate operational challenges. Dr. Maida affirmed the commission’s dedication to making significant strides in enhancing the telecom sector’s efficiency and reliability.
However, telecom service providers are warned that failure to comply with regulatory standards may result in sanctions as the NCC remains steadfast in its commitment to enforcing industry obligations.
