Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella expressed his disappointment at not being selected for Nigeria’s squad in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Bayer Leverkusen winger, Nathan Tella says missing out on a place in Nigeria’s squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was difficult for him to take.
Despite making his international debut for the Super Eagles in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in November 2023, the 24-year-old did not make the AFCON squad.
Reflecting on his debut and the disappointment of missing out on AFCON, Tella said, “It was a good experience for me.
“I always aspired to play international football, and this was my first taste of it. Although I didn’t get the chance to participate in the African Cup of Nations, I saw it as an opportunity to grow and improve as a player.” Tella Concluded.
He however has another chance to prove his worth to the National team coaching Crew currently led by Coach Finidi George and the player will be hopeful he leaves a lasting impression for future National team call up.
