Renowned economist and Labour Party chieftain, Pat Utomi, has issued a stark warning about the potential downfall of the Nigerian currency, the naira, raising alarm that it could plummet to an alarming rate of N10,000 per dollar if immediate action is not taken.
Utomi delivered this cautionary message during an event organized by activist Dr. Moses Paul, commemorating the first anniversary of the 2023 presidential election. Speaking passionately, Utomi highlighted the rapid deterioration of the country’s economic stability, attributing it to a growing disconnect between the government and the populace.
“Our country is dying before us,” Utomi declared, emphasizing the prevailing sense of disillusionment among citizens regarding their representation in government. “They don’t act for the people, and everything is running away, going down very fast.”
In a call to action, Utomi urged citizens to take ownership of the current situation and participate actively in shaping the nation’s future. He stated the need for immediate intervention, stressing that waiting until the next election in 2027 would be too late.
“We must not wait for the next election before we act,” Utomi asserted. “We need to take back our country right now.”
