Popular Nigerian artist Shallipopi has accused Dapper Music of financial exploitation, weeks after announcing his departure from the label.
Govima reports that Shallipopi officially parted ways with the record label in November 2024.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the musician alleged a breach of trust and mismanagement of his finances by the label.
“I am officially ending my agreement with Dapper Music and Dapper Digital. This was not a decision I made lightly, but a necessary step after my trust was betrayed, my finances mismanaged, and my rights as an artist disregarded,” Shallipopi stated.
“This goes beyond me. It’s about every artist and creator who invests their heart into their work only to face exploitation and betrayal from those who are supposed to protect them. It’s about fighting for fairness, integrity, and the respect we all deserve.
“Instead of prioritizing my growth, they focused on their profits, putting my career and dreams at risk,” he added.
