Multichoice, the broadcasting giant, has announced a significant price hike for its services in Nigeria, marking the second increase in just four months.
The adjustments will come into effect on May 1, 2024.
In this latest move, prices for various packages have been revised upward. For instance, the DStv Premium package will now cost N37,000, up from N29,500. Similarly, DStv Compact+ jumps from N19,800 to N25,000, and the Compact package sees an increase from N12,500 to N15,700.
Other packages affected include Comfam, Yanga, Padi, HDPVR, Access Fees, and XtraView, all witnessing price increments from their previous rates.
For Gotv subscribers, the Supa+, Supa, and Max packages also experience price adjustments, reflecting an increase in cost.
Recall that Multichoice previously implemented a price review in December 2023, shortly after reporting a substantial $72 million loss in its third-quarter financial statement. At that time, a 20% hike was observed across all packages.
The company’s decision to raise prices has sparked discussions among consumers, especially considering the economic challenges faced by many in Nigeria.
