Balogun departs Rangers after two seasons amid Gio Van Bronckhorst rebuild
Scottish Premiership club, Glasgow Rangers have confirmed Leon Balogun will leave the club at the end of the month after two years at the club.
The defender has been a huge part of the side over the last couple of seasons but despite initial talks about extending his stay, he decided to move on.
The Nigerian international won the league title in his first season at the Ibrox and also featured regularly under former manager, Steven Gerrard.
“Rangers can today confirm that @LeonBalogun and @andyfirth1996 will depart the club following the expiration of their contracts.
“Everyone at Ibrox wishes Leon & Andy well for the next move in their career,” Rangers tweeted.
The 33-year-old leaves the club after two years in the Scottish premiership, where he helped the club lift the title in his debut season. But, the Nigeria International has dropped down the pecking order with the signing of John Souttar.
Leon Balogun made 65 appearances after being signed by Steven Gerrard and then played an important role under Giovanni van Bronckhorst as rangers reached the Europa League Final.
