Leadership Overhaul In Aviation Sector As President Tinubu Approves Changes

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the suspension, removal, and replacement of several Chief Executive Officers within the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The reshuffling of leadership positions is aimed at fostering a renewed and efficient approach within the sector.

The changes are as follows:

1. Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN):
– Outgoing: Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, Managing Director
– Incoming: Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku appointed as the substantive Managing Director.





2. Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA):
– Outgoing: Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, Managing Director
– Incoming: Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk appointed as the substantive Managing Director.

3. Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB):
– Outgoing: Engr. Akinola Olateru, Director-General
– Incoming: Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. appointed as the substantive Director-General.

4. Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET):
– Outgoing: Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, Director-General
– Incoming: Prof. Charles Anosike appointed as the substantive Director-General.

5. Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT):
– Outgoing: Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, Rector
-Incoming: Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe appointed as the Acting Rector, pending the appointment of a substantive Rector in accordance with Section 13(2) of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022.

6. Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA):
– Suspended: Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, Director-General
– Acting: Capt. Chris Najomo assumes office as the Acting Director-General. The suspension is to enable the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct an unfettered investigation into the activities of the suspended Director-General and other senior officials in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

This comprehensive shake-up is anticipated to bring about positive changes and enhance the efficiency of the aviation sector. The appointment of new leaders reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency within key institutions overseeing aviation and aerospace development.
