To enhance pedestrian safety along the Ikeja Along connecting with the Ikeja Train Station, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan for the installation of a pedestrian bridge along the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line.
Scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 23rd March, and Sunday, 24th March 2024, from 5 am to 8 am each day, the diversion will affect traffic flow at the PWD inwards “Ile Zik” axis of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.
Motorists are advised to take note of the alternative routes provided during the specified hours of the diversion.
For traffic moving from Abule Egba to Oshodi, the diversion will lead vehicles to Agege Motor Road via “Ile Zik,” Akanni Doherty Road, and Oba Akran Avenue, eventually connecting to Kodesoh to access the Airport Ramp leading to Bolade/Oshodi.
Similarly, traffic bound for Dopemu/Abule Egba from Bolade/Oshodi will be redirected to Works Road by PWD inwards Oba Akinjobi Way, guiding drivers to the newly constructed Ikeja Overpass towards Agege Motor Road for onward movement to their destinations.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, reassures the public that the diversion was intentionally scheduled for the weekend and during early hours to minimize disruptions and inconvenience.
Additionally, the State’s Traffic Management Personnel will be deployed to manage vehicular movement effectively during this period.
