Lagos State recently hosted a workshop aimed at equipping field officers and consultants with the necessary skills to effectively utilise the upgraded Lagos State Property Taxation Software (LAPTS) Mobile App.
The initiative is poised to revolutionize Land Use Charge (LUC) operations, promising increased flexibility, seamlessness, and a boost to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Conducted by the Ministry of Finance and facilitated by Detamainingu Limited in Lagos, the training event held in Ikeja garnered significant attention. Hundogan Temitope, the Permanent Secretary, emphasized the transformative potential of the application during his address.
He underscored the App’s role in streamlining LUC operations, bolstering the revenue base, and elevating the quality of data.
The workshop, according to Hundogan, was strategically designed to empower LUC field officers, consultants, and administrators with the requisite knowledge to leverage the upgraded App for proficient property administration. Hundogan emphasised that enhancing the capacity of field officers is pivotal in optimising property enumeration processes and driving LUC revenue generation to unprecedented levels.
Highlighting the indispensable features of LAPTS, Hundogan stressed its significance in accurately identifying property locations and usage, thereby facilitating precise charge assessments. Moreover, the application’s capability to capture property photos stands as a crucial tool for swift dispute resolution.
While acknowledging progress in the performance of land use charge, Hundogan emphasized that there’s still room for improvement. He articulated the ambition for exponential progress rather than merely incremental advancements, underscoring the state’s commitment to realizing its fiscal objectives.
