In a swift operation on Friday, June 7, officers from the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested an 18-year-old suspect for allegedly stealing LED road stud lights from the newly renovated Third Mainland Bridge.
The suspect, Mubarak Abdullahi, a resident of Makoko, was found in possession of ten LED road stud lights, which are crucial for enhancing road visibility.
Abdullahi was reportedly caught in the act by RRS operatives patrolling the bridge. This arrest comes as part of heightened security measures spearheaded by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad.
In recent weeks, bike riders have been deployed for 24-hour patrols to monitor traffic and protect infrastructure on the bridge. CSP Egbeyemi has emphasized the importance of safeguarding public property and ensuring the safety of road users through vigilant policing efforts.
