Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Highlights Road Upgrades In Ikoyi.
The Governor of Lagos State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and boosting productivity by inaugurating a newly upgraded network of roads in Ikoyi.
Speaking during the event, the Governor explained that the project underscored the government’s dedication to transforming Ikoyi into a model district. He emphasised the importance of enhancing the quality of life for residents while bolstering the area’s role in Lagos’ economic growth.
The roads upgraded under the project include Oyinkan Abayomi, Femi Okunnu, Macpherson, Ilabere, Ilu, Inupa, and Kuramo. He noted that the initiative involved the construction of drains with covered slabs for walkways, the installation of durable interlocking stones, and the addition of streetlights and road signage.
According to the Governor, these enhancements have significantly improved connectivity between Ikoyi and key areas such as Victoria Island, Osborne Road, and the Third Mainland Bridge. Furthermore, he highlighted that the project effectively addressed longstanding flooding challenges in the area.
The Governor linked the development to the THEMES+ Agenda, which prioritises transportation and traffic management. He stated that world-class infrastructure was essential for reducing travel times and increasing productivity across Lagos State.
He also called on residents to take responsibility for maintaining the newly upgraded roads. The Governor urged citizens to avoid actions that could damage the infrastructure, such as dumping waste in drainage systems or engaging in illegal parking.
He concluded by encouraging collective efforts to preserve the roads, noting that such measures would ensure the sustainability of the investments and provide lasting benefits for future generations. By working together, he said, Lagosians could secure a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
