Real Madrid Coach Ancelotti Praises Rodrygo for Impactful Performance
After Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, head coach Carlo Ancelotti lauded Rodrygo for his standout performance, crediting the Brazilian attacker for making a significant difference on the field.
Rodrygo, 23, secured the win with two goals in the 8th and 73rd minute, contributing crucially to Los Blancos’ triumph over Athletic Bilbao.
In his post-match press conference, Ancelotti highlighted Rodrygo’s pivotal role in the match, stating, “Rodrygo had a fantastic game and was the difference-maker. He capitalized on two quality chances to give us an early lead. This is typical of Rodrygo’s impact, and it’s what we expect from him.”
The coach also addressed Rodrygo’s versatility, noting his ability to perform well across different positions. “Rodrygo’s performance today demonstrates his effectiveness anywhere on the pitch, despite the common perception that he excels on the left side. Let’s not forget his memorable performance scoring two goals while playing on the right in a Champions League semi-final. He’s a top-class forward who consistently delivers,” Ancelotti remarked.
Additionally, Ancelotti expressed satisfaction with Eder Militao’s return from injury, hailing the Brazilian defender as one of the finest in his position. “Militao’s comeback is crucial for us. He’s among the best defenders globally, and having him back strengthens our squad. We’re optimistic about his contributions in upcoming matches and towards the end of the season,” Ancelotti added.
Regarding their La Liga standing, Ancelotti acknowledged their lead but emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and winning every remaining game. “We have an advantage in the league, but we must remain concentrated and aim to win each match, starting with our next fixture against Mallorca,” he stated.
Real Madrid currently leads the La Liga standings with 75 points from 23 wins out of 30 matches. Their next challenge awaits in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City.
