Kompany Responds To Critics: “Belief Is Key To Success”.
Vincent Kompany has hit back at suggestions that the Bayern Munich managerial role would be “too big” for him, offering a powerful response rooted in his personal journey. The Burnley manager, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats, shared his thoughts on overcoming adversity and the importance of self-belief.
In a candid statement, Kompany said: “I was born in Brussels, my dad was a refugee from Congo. What are my chances of even playing in the Premier League, winning something as a player, or representing my national team? The odds were 0.000 something. Now I’m a coach.”
Kompany, who captained Manchester City to multiple Premier League titles and now manages in the top flight, emphasised the importance of resilience in the face of doubt. “Do you just stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve because of what other people say?” he asked.
His message was clear: success is not defined by external opinions but by determination and a willingness to learn. “The mentality is to keep going,” Kompany continued. “In the end, if you fail, you fail. If you succeed, you succeed. But you can always become better.”
The former Belgian international also brushed aside online criticism, stating that he does not take negative comments personally. “Online you can always find stuff, so I really don’t take it personally.”
Kompany’s remarks serve as a powerful reminder of the value of perseverance, self-confidence, and the pursuit of improvement – lessons that have defined his illustrious career both on and off the pitch.
