The 19-member council, tasked with transforming Abia into a self-sustaining economic hub, boasts a distinguished lineup, including co-chairmen Ms. Arunma Oteh, Khaleefa Sanusi II, and Mr. Bolaji Balogun.

Other notable members comprise Mr. Victor Onyenkpa, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, Mr. Chidi Ajaegbu, Mr. Uche Orji, Mrs. Ndidi Nwuneli, Mr. Chika Nwobi, Dr. Olugbenga Adesida, Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Mazi Clement Owunna, Dr. Uzodinma Iweala, Mrs. Ezinwa Okoroafor, Mr. George Agu, Mazi Uzo Nwankwo, Mr Chinedu Azodoh, and honorary advisors Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Dr. Benedict Oramah.

Governor Otti emphasized that the economic neglect suffered by the state over the years necessitates expert guidance. The governor appointed five members from the State Executive Council, including himself, to represent the government on the Advisory Council.

Otti acknowledged the economic challenges faced by the state and expressed confidence that the council, working collaboratively with the government, will formulate strategies to enhance long-term economic prospects, positioning Abia as a significant player in the global economy.

The Principal Secretary to the Governor/Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, and the Technical Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Charles Egonye, will manage the council, supported by Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko and Ms Amaka Okonkwo from the private sector.

The Abia State Global Economic Advisory Council is envisioned as a vital advisory body, offering strategic insights and recommendations to shape the state’s economic and investment policies.

The council will closely collaborate with relevant state commissioners to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities, ensuring Abia remains at the forefront of innovation and economic development regionally and globally.

In her overview, co-chair Arunma Oteh highlighted the council’s dual role of providing advice and holding the governor accountable on global business matters. Co-chair Bolaji Balogun commended Governor Otti as a historical figure, asserting that Abia’s success translates to Nigeria’s success.
