Lagos, Nigeria has been added to the shortlist of cities that American hip-hop icon and fashion mogul Kanye West plans to tour in 2024, exciting African fans with his extensive career in music and design.
Kanye West revealed the possible tour locations on his Instagram handle on Wednesday, February 7, in conjunction with the release of his highly anticipated album “Vultures,” which he co-wrote with TY Dolla $ign.
The Grammy-winning artist disclosed plans for the Vultures world tour, with proposed tour dates set for Eko Energy City in Lagos on December 14, 2024, and Nyayo International Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 7.
Given his past collaborations with Nigerian musicians, West’s interest in Nigerian music is not new. As a sign of his admiration for the Country’s music scene, he signed Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj, to his GOOD Music label in 2011. In addition, he demonstrated his admiration for Nigerian talent by calling Wizkid’s “Essence” from 2021 “the greatest song in the history of music”.
The Vultures tour is scheduled to begin in Toronto, Canada, on June 22, traversing the United States until August before heading to Mexico.
For fans eagerly awaiting West’s arrival, his potential return to Lagos would mark his second performance in the city, following his participation in the 2007 Mega Star Jam powered by Nigeria Breweries Plc.
