Kano Pillars Secure Historic ₦100m Shirt Sponsorship Deal With RFI Hausa.
Kano Pillars Football Club, one of Nigeria’s most storied football teams, has announced a groundbreaking ₦100 million partnership deal with Radio France Internationale (RFI) Hausa, marking a transformative moment for the club. The agreement, unveiled on Thursday, 17 July 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, establishes RFI Hausa as the primary sponsor for the 2025-26 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The deal, signed by Kano Pillars’ General Manager and former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, comprises ₦45 million in cash and ₦55 million in equipment and services. RFI Hausa’s logo will adorn the chest of the club’s home, away, and alternate jerseys, alongside official team branding and promotional materials. A prototype of the new kit, incorporating traditional Kano designs, was revealed at the event, blending cultural heritage with modern football aesthetics.
Speaking at the ceremony, Musa hailed the partnership as a “new era” for Kano Pillars, underscoring its potential to enhance the club’s branding, operations, and media reach. “This is a proud day for Kano Pillars. We warmly welcome RFI Hausa to the Sai Masu Gida family. This deal will propel us to new heights, and we are committed to transparency, progress, and excellence,” Musa stated. He highlighted that the support package includes digital media equipment such as cameras and computers, monthly training for the club’s media team, and full kit sponsorship, enabling players to gift jerseys to fans after matches.
Joseph Penny, Director of France Médias Monde Nigeria, expressed RFI Hausa’s excitement about the collaboration, emphasising its goal to elevate Kano Pillars’ global presence. “This partnership is more than just a logo on a jersey. It’s about celebrating the club’s heritage and driving its growth,” Penny said. With RFI Hausa’s vast audience—over 1.6 million followers on Facebook and nearly 800,000 on TikTok—the deal will boost the club’s social media presence and content production, fostering deeper fan engagement through compelling storytelling.
The agreement extends to all club categories, including the senior team, second team, Junior Pillars, and youth teams in the U-13, U-15, and U-19 brackets. Musa urged other organisations to emulate RFI Hausa’s commitment and partner with the club to advance football development in Kano State and beyond.
Fans have greeted the announcement with enthusiasm, with many on X praising the deal as a step towards raising the NPFL’s commercial and competitive standards. The partnership comes as Kano Pillars, who placed ninth in the NPFL last season, undergo a strategic overhaul, including a revamp of their youth system to nurture local talent.
Established in 1990, Kano Pillars, known as Sai Masu Gida, is one of Nigeria’s most successful and beloved clubs, with a passionate fanbase packing the 25,000-capacity Sani Abacha Stadium for home matches. The club has clinched multiple NPFL titles, including a memorable triumph in 2007-08, and reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals in 2009. With this landmark sponsorship, Kano Pillars aim to build on their rich legacy and reclaim their place at the top of Nigerian football.
As the 2025-26 season approaches, the unveiling of the RFI Hausa-sponsored kits has sparked excitement among supporters, who are eager to see the team showcase their stylish new jerseys and compete for NPFL glory.
