In an address to stakeholders from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, Governor Senator Uba Sani revealed a concerning reality: over 1,500 schools in the state’s eight frontline local government areas lack proper fencing, leaving them vulnerable.

This disclosure comes in the wake of heightened concerns over the safety of educational institutions following the abduction of 137 children in Kuriga.

However, Governor Sani also shared a glimmer of hope, announcing that prominent Kaduna-based business figures, Alhaji Adamu Atta of Fifth Chucker and Alhaji Bukar Shettima of Barbados, have stepped forward to construct fences for 100 schools. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards bolstering security measures under the Safe School Initiative.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of education in societal development, Governor Sani underscored his administration’s commitment to addressing the pressing issue of school security. He highlighted ongoing efforts to assess and fortify junior secondary and primary schools across the state, echoing the imperative of aligning with the Safe School Initiative standards.

Acknowledging security as a paramount concern, Governor Sani commended the proactive measures taken by the service chiefs, particularly the establishment of a military base in Kachia. This move is seen as a strategic step towards enhancing security infrastructure and safeguarding communities against potential threats.

As Kaduna State grapples with the imperative of securing its educational institutions, Governor Sani’s proactive approach and collaborative efforts with stakeholders and philanthropists signal a concerted commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and educators across the state.

Kaduna Governor Vows to Revamp Ailing Healthcare and Education Sectors

Governor Uba Sani revealed a distressing reality: the 32 general hospitals in the state have languished without renovation for two decades, compelling citizens to seek medical care across state lines.

Sani, deeply troubled by the dire state of healthcare infrastructure, announced a proactive plan to initiate the revitalization process. In a phased approach, his administration will undertake the remodelling, reconstruction, and reequipping of six general hospitals—two in each senatorial zone.

To address the pressing need for secure learning environments, the governor disclosed a collaborative effort with notable Kaduna-based entrepreneurs,

Governor Sani emphasised the pivotal role of healthcare and education in societal progress, declaring them as primary areas of focus for his administration. The imminent commencement of reconstruction efforts signifies a tangible step towards fulfilling these critical commitments.
