Renowned veteran journalist and former BBC Hausa Service broadcaster, Mato Adamu, has sadly passed away at the age of 60.
Family sources have revealed that the esteemed journalist breathed his last on Friday evening at the Specialists Hospital in Gombe, following a brief period of illness.
After his tenure with the BBC, Adamu continued to make his mark in the journalism field by contributing as a freelance journalist for various esteemed international media organizations, including Reuters.
Hailing from the Dambam Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Adamu was based in Gombe State, where he had established himself as a proficient media consultant.
Notably, he briefly served as the Chief Media Consultant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State during the governor’s initial term.
The funeral prayers for the late Mato Adamu are scheduled to take place on Saturday at 11am at the Specialists Hospital in Gombe. His passing marks the end of an era in journalism, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and contributions to the field.
