NFF: Reports of Victor Osimhen Ban Are Fake
(Govima Sports Report).
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted reports circulating online that Super Eagles’ forward Victor Osimhen has been banned from the national team following his recent social media outburst.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed astonishment at the false reports, clarifying that the Federation has neither initiated nor concluded any process to ban the player from the National Team.
“The NFF hereby implores the media to join hands with the body to positively resolve issues and focus on the big picture, rather than needlessly escalating certain matters,” Sanusi stated. “There was no official communication from the NFF, yet some persons have gone public with talk of a ban on Osimhen from the National Team. This is not good at all.”
Sanusi emphasized that the Federation’s current focus is to resolve all matters concerning the Super Eagles and to prepare confidently for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.
“This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space further,” he added.
The NFF’s clarification aims to quell the misinformation and encourage a united front as Nigeria’s national team gears up for important upcoming fixtures.
