With the ongoing leadership crisis in Ondo State, President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for the transfer of power to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The decision was communicated during a meeting convened by Tinubu on Monday to resolve the prevailing issues.
President Tinubu emphasized that the power transition should occur without any conditions, citing the “Doctrine of Necessity” as the guiding principle. The Nation has learned that the transfer of power will be facilitated through electronic signature (e-signature), given the ailing health of Governor Akeredolu, who is reportedly too weak to physically sign any documents.
This strategic move aims to allow Governor Akeredolu to take a medical leave for his well-being. The utilization of electronic signatures ensures a seamless transition of power in the absence of the governor’s physical presence.
The use of e-signatures reflects a modern approach to administrative processes in the face of health-related constraints.
Further developments will be closely monitored as the state navigates through this period of transition and addresses the broader implications for governance in Ondo.
