Nigeria and Benin Republic have faced disappointment in their joint bid to host the African Cup of Nations in 2027. Instead, it has been announced that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will be the joint hosts for the prestigious football tournament.
This decision comes after a significant effort was put forth by Nigeria, with the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, leading a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation to Egypt for the bidding process. Nigeria’s hopes for a successful bid were dashed, marking the end of their joint hosting aspirations with Ghana.
The disappointment follows Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions’ triumphant victory at the National Stadium in Lagos during the previous tournament, which had been hosted in collaboration with Ghana.
