Gunshots echoed through the air today as Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State departed the residence of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.
The tension escalated when officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) descended on Bello’s residence in Abuja with the intent to arrest him.
According to reports, the EFCC operatives, supported by backup from the police and Department of State Services (DSS), sought to apprehend Bello forcefully. However, their efforts were thwarted as Governor Ododo’s arrival complicated the situation.
Amidst swirling rumours about Bello’s presence in his car, security personnel, who had been stationed for hours, opened fire. As of now, the motive behind the EFCC siege remains undisclosed.
