The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, passed away on Friday, 25 July 2025, at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness. His death, confirmed by Sulaiman Idris, spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, has prompted an outpouring of tributes celebrating his remarkable decade-long reign and contributions to the state and beyond. Dr. Bello ascended the throne as the 16th Emir of Gusau on 16 March 2015, succeeding his father. Before his royal appointment, he had a distinguished career in the civil service, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary in both the former Sokoto State and later Zamfara State.
