CAF Investigates Libya Over Cancelled AFCON Qualifier Against Nigeria.
The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) is currently under investigation by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the cancellation of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Libya and Nigeria, which was scheduled to take place last Tuesday.
According to sources in Libya, the Secretary-General of the LFF, Nasser Al-Suwaie, has confirmed that the federation has been officially queried by CAF. The governing body has requested the submission of all relevant documents concerning the failed match.
Reports from Libyan media outlet Libya Al-Ahrar indicate that the LFF has been given a deadline of Sunday, 20 October, to provide the necessary documentation. Al-Suwaie also noted that the federation has engaged a specialised lawyer to assist in presenting evidence related to the cancellation.
CAF’s investigation aims to uncover the reasons behind the match’s cancellation and determine whether any violations occurred in the process. The outcome of this inquiry could have significant implications for both Libya and Nigeria in the ongoing AFCON qualification campaign.
The investigation continues as football fans and stakeholders across Africa await further updates from CAF regarding the situation.
