CAF Announces Draw Date for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4. The event will be held at the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg.
CAF revealed that fifty-two countries will be drawn into 12 groups of four teams each. These teams will compete for spots in the AFCON finals, set to be hosted in Morocco in 2025. The qualifiers are slated to begin in September 2024, where teams will battle for one of the 24 coveted spots in the tournament.
The draw ceremony will be attended by selected CAF legends, representatives of the participating teams, and members of the Local Organising Committee for TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, among others.
In the last edition of AFCON, Cote d’Ivoire emerged victorious, narrowly defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the final. The anticipation is high as teams prepare for the upcoming qualifiers and the chance to compete for the prestigious title in Morocco.
