The Kaduna State Government has declared the liberation of 287 schoolchildren who were abducted from Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Recall that on March 7, 2024, the students, hailing from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School in Kuriga, were forcefully taken.
In a statement issued by the state governor, Senator Uba Sani, it was confirmed on Sunday that the schoolchildren have been set free.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians, especially in securing the release of the abducted Kuriga school children.
Throughout the ordeal, Governor Sani revealed that he had multiple conversations with President Tinubu, who empathised with their plight, provided reassurance, and collaborated closely to facilitate the safe return of the children.
He also praised the National Security Adviser, Mal. Nuhu Ribadu, for his exceptional leadership, acknowledging the sleepless nights spent strategizing and coordinating security operations, which ultimately led to the successful outcome.
Furthermore, Governor Sani commended the Nigerian Army for their unwavering courage, determination, and commitment in combating criminal elements and restoring security in communities. He extended gratitude to all Nigerians who fervently prayed for the safe return of the school children, emphasizing that the release marks a day of joy and giving glory to Almighty Allah.
