The US president might be impeached as the House Speaker, Kelvin McCathy, is set to announce that Republicans will initiate an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden’s alleged corruption related to business dealings by his son, Hunter Biden.
In the US Electoral system, an impeachment inquiry is a formal investigation conducted by the House of Representatives to determine whether a high-ranking government official, like the President, should be impeached and potentially removed from office due to alleged wrongdoing.
Following an impeachment inquiry, the House of Representatives conducts a vote on articles of impeachment if sufficient evidence is found. If a majority in the House supports these articles, the case proceeds to the Senate for a trial. Conviction and removal from office require a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate and could also result in disqualification from future public office.
Despite the Democrats’ Senate majority, they are unlikely to convict President Biden even if the evidence is compelling. Nevertheless, from a political standpoint, an impeachment inquiry can uncover significant evidence of corruption and bribery related to the president, potentially tarnishing their reputation and diminishing their chances of winning re-election.
The intention to impeach Joe Biden has been there for a while after Biden and his Son Beau engaged Family business dealings, as GOVIMA earlier reported
