Ipswich Town Secures Liam Delap from Manchester City for £20 Million.
Ipswich Town has officially signed forward Liam Delap from Manchester City in a deal that could reach up to £20 million ($25 million). The 21-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League side as they prepare for their first top-flight season in over two decades.
Delap is the fourth signing for Ipswich this summer, underscoring the club’s ambitions as they return to the Premier League. Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Delap stated, “I’m really excited. The manager here likes to play exciting football. It’s quick and intense, and I am looking forward to that.”
Having made only six appearances for Manchester City, Delap spent the past two seasons on loan at Stoke City, Preston North End, and Hull City, where he sought to gain more first-team experience. With this transfer, he aims to significantly contribute to Ipswich’s campaign by providing goals and assists.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna expressed his delight at securing Delap, praising his exceptional physical and technical skills. “He is a player with outstanding attributes who has a hunger to come here and continue to learn and improve,” McKenna said, emphasising the potential he sees in Delap for further development at the club.
As Ipswich Town gears up for an exciting season, Delap’s arrival marks a significant step in strengthening their squad and enhancing their prospects in the Premier League.
