Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has revealed that he received a sum of N1 billion for constituency projects. Speaking on a podcast, Nwoko echoed Senator Ali Ndume’s assertion that resources allocated to legislators vary depending on the scale of their constituency projects.
Nwoko emphasised that senators secure funding through lobbying rather than entitlement. He advocated for uniform allocation across senatorial districts to ensure an equitable distribution of resources.
He clarified that the funds are designated for projects such as roads, water supply, and training programmes within their constituencies.
When asked about the N1 billion allocation, Nwoko confirmed receipt, attributing it to his efforts in serving his constituents.
These revelations surface amidst allegations by suspended Senator Abdul Ningi, claiming a N3 trillion padding in the 2024 budget. While the Senate has refuted any wrongdoing, some senators have provided clarity on the amounts allocated for constituency projects in their respective districts.
