House Of Representatives Postpones Interactive Session With Rivers State Sole Administrator.
The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee overseeing developments in Rivers State has postponed its scheduled interactive session with the Sole Administrator of the state, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
The session, which was initially slated for Thursday, was intended to allow for a comprehensive engagement with Ibas following the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the indefinite postponement of the session was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the House Spokesperson, Honourable Akin Rotimi, in Abuja.
Rotimi stated that the committee had received a formal request for a postponement from the Sole Administrator and was in the process of setting a new date for the engagement.
“In the spirit of transparent and effective oversight, the committee will promptly inform the public once the rescheduled date is confirmed,” Rotimi assured.
Earlier in the week, the House of Representatives had constituted a 21-member ad-hoc committee led by Honourable Julius Ihonvbere to oversee the situation in Rivers State under the emergency rule.
The committee’s activities are part of the National Assembly’s broader commitment to ensuring accountability and good governance during the administration of emergency measures in the state.
