Tottenham striker, Harry Kane is now England’s all-time leading scorer after he broke Wayne Rooney’s record Thursday.
Before the game against Italy on Thursday night, the Tottenham striker was tied on 53 goals with Rooney.
However, the England captain scored his record-breaking goal from the penalty spot shortly before half-time in Naples after Italy defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. This came from an intervention from VAR.
It means that Kane has now scored 54th goal in just his 81st appearance for the Three Lions to surpass Rooney’s 53 goals in 120 appearances.
Before now, Kane has eclipsed the likes of Bobby Charlton (49 goals in 106 appearances), Gary Lineker (48 goals in 80 appearances) and Jimmy Greaves (44 goals in just 57 appearances ) who complete the top five goal scorers for the three Lions,
