Amid rising regional tensions related to the conflict in Gaza, the National Security Council of Israel issued a strong advisory on Saturday, urging its citizens to promptly depart from Egypt and Jordan.
The travel warnings for these countries, including the Sinai Peninsula within Egypt, were elevated to level 4, indicating a high threat.
The recommendation was not to travel to these nations, and for those already present, the council urged them to leave as soon as possible.
This action followed Israel’s recent recall of diplomats from Turkey as a precautionary security measure, which was prompted by an earlier request for Israeli citizens to leave the country.
The evacuation directives come in the midst of widespread protests across the Middle East in response to Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip.
The conflict in Gaza originated when Hamas militants breached the border into Israel from the Gaza Strip, taking hostages and causing casualties.
Israel subsequently pledged to dismantle Hamas, leading to a bombing campaign that has resulted in significant destruction in Gaza, with the Palestinian health ministry, run by Hamas, reporting a substantial number of casualties among the civilian population.
