Mr. Alaba Abe, a major figure in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s campaign team, was brutally assassinated by unknown gunmen in Supare Akoko, Ondo State.
Abe, affectionately known as Excel, played an important role as one of the ward campaign coordinators during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, which Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious from.
The harrowing incident unfolded on Saturday evening, casting a dark shadow over the state. Sources reveal that Abe, who also served as the Returning Officer for the party’s primary in Ward 10, was fatally shot in front of his residence at around 9 pm.
The Ondo State Police Command have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Abe’s untimely demise. Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the commencement of the probe, emphasizing the commitment to uncovering the truth behind the heinous act.
The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council vehemently denounced the assassination, urging state security agencies to leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators. David Ajobiewe, the Akoko South-West Local Government Director-General for the LACO-FSIC, alsp spoke about Abe’s invaluable contributions and urging authorities to expedite the investigation.
Expressing his sorrow and dismay, Ondo APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Alex Kalejaiye, lamented the tragic loss of a party member but stressed the need for verified information before making official statements.
